Mini Kefta Kababs

Writer's picture: Raya SammorRaya Sammor

In middle eastern cuisine you will find different types of kabab anywhere. Kababs can be any kind of meat or vegetables marinated and put on a skewer in most cases either grilled or broiled. The spices, herbs, the aromas when cooking is what what makes this dish great. I used my stove top grill and finished them off in the oven, but these are also great on a charcoal grill!

Either way you make them its delicious and it's perfect to have with a simple salad, rice, or on top of a creamy bed of baba ghanosh, (eggplant dip) that will be talked about more in a different post, but either way you eat your Kababs you will love them!

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds of ground beef 2 mini red bell peppers or 1/2 of a big red pepper Handful of chopped cilantro 1/2 of a white onion chopped small 1 heaping tbsp of chopped garlic 1 tbsp of tomatoe paste 2 1/2 tsp of salt (less or more to prefrence) 2 tsp of Aleppo pepper spice (crushed sweet red pepper) 2 tsp of kifta spice 2 tsp of kabab spice 1 tsp of smoked paprika 2 tsp of mixed arabic spice Don't worry if you dont have all these spice you can substitute, most of these spices contain a mix of coriander, cumin, nutmeg, all spice, cinnamon, paprika, ginger, you can use 7 spice or mix your own. Directions Mix all the ingredients together form them in small kebabs, put them in the fridge for 20 min so the meat can hold its shape. Right before grilling them drizzle olive oil on top, to prevent from sticking to the grill, you can grill outside I just used my grill on the stove just make sure it's preheated before use. Grill meat on both sides and then stick them in a 400 degree oven to finish cooking all the way thru. If using a charcoal grill you dont need to finish off a grill.
